Trail Conditions

January 31, 2026

The brutally cold month of January is in the rearview mirror, and the short-term weather forecast looks much more favourable for outdoor activity. The trails are in good to great riding and snowshoeing condition. The COOP Family trail was machine groomed on Jan 30 (Thanks again Tom!) so it's a relatively smooth "corrugated" snow surface great for a hike. Single-track bike trails were groomed Jan 24.  A weak "clipper" system is forecasted for the area Jan 31/Feb 1 suggesting Northgate may get between a trace to 5 cm of fresh snow, so keep your eyes on the sky this weekend.

Trails are very firm, but due to recent thaw and re-freeze have a few slippery and icy spots. Be careful. Bit of blowing snow today, so some minor drifting in spots. Layer up if you are riding, it's going to be a cooler weekend. Get out and ride!

It's snowed just about every day this week, and our volunteer trail grooming crew has literally been out everyday working on the trails. Major sections of the network have been groomed, as has the new Edwards Creek Connector trail. Get out and ride, snowshoe or hike, but please adhere to trail signage and stay off the single track groomed bike trails if you aren't fat biking or wearing snowshoes.  As always in the winter, snowshoers are welcome on all single track groomed trails.
