Trail Conditions

February 21, 2026

Northgate received approximately 30 cm of snow this past week, but our grooming crew has been out working on the trails. COOP Family trail was snowmobile groomed Friday, Feb 20.  Single track bike trails were Snodog groomed Feb 19. Parkline, Edwards Connector, Birder Loop, Gatehouse and Ol Chap have been groomed a couple time and are in moderate to good condition for biking. Other trails (Sunday Drive, Bobsled, Jims Ridgeline, Gaylene's Garden) have been single groomed and are in fair to good condition for biking. We could use some snowshoers and bikers to help set the trails.

Single-track bike trails are in great to excellent condition. Firm and "crunchy" would best describe them. COOP family trail has been corrugated groomed for hiking. If you are fat biking or snowshoeing the entire (groomed) network is available to you. If you are hiking without snowshoes please limit your trek to the COOP family trail (to avoid damaging the groomed trails).

January 31, 2026

The brutally cold month of January is in the rearview mirror, and the short-term weather forecast looks much more favourable for outdoor activity. The trails are in good to great riding and snowshoeing condition. The COOP Family trail was machine groomed on Jan 30 (Thanks again Tom!) so it's a relatively smooth "corrugated" snow surface great for a hike. Single-track bike trails were groomed Jan 24.  A weak "clipper" system is forecasted for the area Jan 31/Feb 1 suggesting Northgate may get between a trace to 5 cm of fresh snow, so keep your eyes on the sky this weekend.
